Throughout my career, I have been building relationships with furniture suppliers who reflect and support my professional and personal commitment to sustainability and ethical design. I want to celebrate the companies who are focusing on compassion over profits. Here’s my tried and tested list of favourite suppliers.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS + ETHICAL MANUFACTURING
JARDAN
Jardan, founded in 1987 in Melbourne, focuses on their commitment and approach to three core sustainability themes: Planet / People / Prosperity.
The company recently published a highly detailed Sustainability report outlining their current policies and goals and future targets based on these themes. They’ve just celebrated their 6th straight year as certified carbon neutral through the Federal Government’s NCOS program. All the beautiful Jardan products are proudly Australian designed, sourced and built and then sold throughout the world.

This Byron Bay family company works with fair trade artisans in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The Founder, Shannon, recognised that her ongoing orders have made an incredible impact on the communities she works with.
KOSKELA
Koskela Furniture is a Certified B Corporation, supporting sustainable Australian products and deeply committed to social impact. They have a passion for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture as well, focusing on celebrating and promoting its practitioners.
TOTEM ROAD
Totem Road is committed to minimising the impact of modern “throwaway” culture - designing solid oak furniture with Scandinavian influences. The business ethos embraces the Iroquois Seventh Generation Principle - focusing on designing for many generations to come.
